This earthship awaits your
opportunity to complete it and would provide a nice remote get-away once
complete. Located in the STAR, it offers beauty, isolation and
quietness that make the drive down unimproved roads worth the trip.
Two piņon-covered acres land adjoining the Carson National Forest create
a beautiful setting and easy access to the short hike up Tres Orejas
Peak shown here in the background.
The following video tour will
introduce you to this home.
Details
The home consists of two bays constructed in the classic
modular earthship style. The smaller of the two has been enclosed
while the larger has the exterior walls completed, but is still open.
In many ways it makes a "blank canvas" ready for you to complete to your
desires. None of the water, solar, or other earthship systems are
in place.
The enclosed portion of the earthship is approximately
12 x 12 (guestimate - I have not measured this). As you can see
the roof is on and the some mud has been applied to the tire walls.
While far from complete, this section could provide shelter and storage
while the rest of the home is completed.
A view out the front windows shows the trees and the
uninterupted New Mexico skies.
The remaining larger portion of the home has only
partially built walls. This picture also sows the door leading
between the two sections.
Obviously this home would require substantial work to be
a completed and livable home. But since the price is comparable to
- or even less than the cost of land elsewhere - it provides a great
opportunity for someone not wanting to build an earthship completely
from scratch.
